The purpose of this project is to provide a tool for ordinary citizens, visitors, and cooperating organizations to document the biodiversity within the region of Hancock and Washington counties and the island of Isle au Haut in Maine at any time of year. The scope of this project includes all of Acadia National Park as well as lands outside the park's boundary. In addition to obtaining valuable species information from targeted inventories by scientists, this is a tremendous opportunity for land protection agencies and their constituencies, school groups, park visitors, and naturalists of all ages to engage in hands-on data collection leading to land stewardship. Observations will be used to share stories of scientific and personal discovery and will provide valuable biodiversity inventory information to regional land managers. less ↑
