For Lincoln University's Field Ecology Methods class in 2016, we sampled mammals in the Christchurch residental red zone (the area cleared of housing after the earthquakes). We compared these to nearby suburban areas plus two green spaces (Travis Wetland and Horseshoe Lake). We used standard-sized tracking tunnels baited with peanut butter, cat-sized tracking tunnels baited with dehydrated rabbit, and wax tags baited with a flour-cinnamon blaze.

These are out results. The red sites on the map are the residential red zone parks we sampled, the yellow sites are the suburban sites we sampled, and the green sites and the green spaces. less ↑
