Whats that for? For species, that should be in focus of a challenge? How about
Startiomy singulator (actually, any Stratiomys is heavily underrepresented here)
Tmarus piger (no records for Germany on iNat!)

That‘s for: I would like to find this in my Life List and find it more represented on iNat in Germany.

Thanks for more ideas!

Ok, thanks Martin. You should definately try with soldier flies (Stratiomyidae) this season. I did it once after a researcher asked for records and found 5 species that year (all of them firsts for me). So it is easily doable, they are just so overlooked.

Are they all IDed correctly on iNaturalist? Maybe there are some without ID...

How would you know with any species, whether that is the case or not?

Posted by ajott about 4 years ago

It's not possible to know. I don't know if specialists see every fly observation and identify it to higher levels. So maybe there are some fly observations which are ided as "diptera" that could be soldier flies? No idea - and didn't check.

My first goal is done:

Too easy...

Ya, but that could be also the case for most of the other suggested species, or not? I mean, Drosophila simulans is probably a though call for most people, as is Pionosomus varius or the moss.
Congrats for your find btw. Next step is a picture of the species itself ;-)

Sure, that is a case for many difficult or rare species...

Posted by martingrimm about 4 years ago

Eresus kollari, yes! I'll add the two species in the project intro ;-)

I just uploaded a beetle that has only this one record in Germany and only 5 records in total on iNaturalist. I don´t think it is sooo super seldom, if you know where to look, and it is not too hard to identify due to its distinctive pattern. However, it is only active in the winter season around oak trees and quizte small, which could be the reason for the poor reporting. I talk about Phloiophilus edwardsii. Could be interesting to specifically look for it?

Oh yes, definitely. I add it to the list!

Punkt 5: darauf Bezug nehmend - was soll das denn bitte?

Punkt 5 😂

Posted by martingrimm about 4 years ago

Posted by alexis_orion about 4 years ago

zu 3: Ich seh die Grille noch.

Posted by ajott about 4 years ago

@ajott welchen Browser nutzt Du?

Posted by mobbini about 4 years ago
