Potential Lichen observations of NZ's Journal

I have finished converting this to an automatic collection project. Unfortunately that means we can no longer manually add observations to the project, but the upside is that we no longer have to manually add observations to the project!

The project now has about 24000 observations, compared with the 23000 observations under the previous incarnation. A few that were in the old project where no location was specified (or specified as private), or the location was outside NZ have been excluded. Let me know if you think we should include Islands outside our economic zone, or include the Ross Dependency (Antarctica).

If you want to add an observation to the project, just give it a preliminary ID of your best guess or if you have no clue about it, just add "Higher Ascomycetes" or "Pezizomycotina" and hopefully someone will correct it. If the fungus in the observation is not actually lichenised people can add the field "it's a lichen=no".

Since Mike started this project 3 years ago we have added 10,000 lichen observations. Of those 3286 are already research grade, and 7811 have at least one ID to genus level.

Well, lichen observations without an ID yet ;-)

I have trawled through all the fungi and unknown observations and added any lichens to this project, here is a list of lichens that haven't yet received even a most basic taxon ID (or the lowest common taxon agreed comes out to be 'kingdom fungi') : /observations?lrank=kingdom&photos&project_id=lichens-of-nz&reviewed=false&subview=grid - any IDs to move them down the tree would help :-)

I have changed the project's checklist, /lists/336390-Lichens-of-NZs-Check-List, to only include research grade species observations so that it doesn't keep picking up higher level taxons. I have created a list, that should include most genus groups that include lichens, at /lists/377316-Colins-lichens-list. Let me know of any errors/omissions in either.
