One of three iNaturalist projects of the MaMA program (MonitoringAsh.org), which aims to help prevent ash extinction and mitigate EAB damage. The MaMA program was developed by and is directed by the Ecological Research Institute (ERI). In this project, participants establish plots to monitor ash tree mortality from EAB and report their data yearly. These data are crucial to determining when an area will be eligible to search for lingering ash (EAB-resistant trees). The data for this project can only be collected June-August, when ash are fully leafed out.
Because this iNaturalist project is somewhat technical, to participate in it you must first participate in an ERI MaMA training workshop. If you are potentially interested in joining this project, please contact us at outreach@monitoringash.org. For information on lingering ash and other aspects of EAB management and ash conservation, visit MonitoringAsh.org.
