Geographic Range

This species is endemic to Papua New Guinea (but is known from close to the Indonesian border and presumably ranges into this country) and is known from the Bamu to the Morehead Rivers, and the upper reaches of the Fly River in Western Province (Zug 2004). It ranges from sea level to mid-elevations of the Fly drainage; the highest known elevation is around 500 m based on locality records (A. Allison and G. Shea pers. comm. 2014).

      Red List Rationale

Carlia aramia has been assessed as Least Concern on the basis that this species is widespread in New Guinea and, while poorly-known, is likely to be able to tolerate habitat modification and not subject to major threats.
