NYBG EcoFlora Update, April 8, 2019

Take the City Nature Challenge 2019 from April 26–29 with your fellow New Yorkers. iNaturalist describes it as “an international effort for people to find and document plants and wildlife in cities across the globe… in a contest against each other to see who can make the most observations… find the most species… and engage the most people.” As added incentive for the Big Apple to claim the top spot, Team NYC will also compete in a friendly BATTLE OF THE BOROUGHS to see which one can make the most observations among the team total!

Please everyone, plan to get out and make the most observations you can over the four days of the Challenge, which is now only a week away. I am hoping for good weather, but even if it rains a bit, it is spring, not winter, and we can manage to make observations while holding an umbrella. :)

If you are forced to be indoors on some of the days, you can perhaps snap some photographs of trees or bushes out of a window, or have a look around for the numerous kinds of critters that live in buildings. You can also shoot out of a window in a taxi, a bus, or a train if it is above ground.

Best to all,

Susan
