Tidepooling and sand sampling! Join NHMLA and University of California’s CALeDNA as we take advantage of the lowest tide cycle of the year to explore coastal marine life at Point Fermin, San Pedro in two exciting ways.
NHMLA invites you to participate in a bioblitz of the rocky intertidal areas, using iNaturalist to document the marine life, while UCLA teaches a new method to monitor biodiversity, collecting environmental DNA samples from the sandy area of the park.
Register so we know you are coming: https://tickets.nhm.org/WebStore/shop/ViewItems.aspx?CG=CSMeet1&C=CSMeet2
The data we collect will be compiled into state-wide efforts (such as Snapshot Cal Coast) so scientists can gain a better understanding of the organisms that live in this section of the California coast.
