The Story of Whale and Dolphin Evolution

After many months of work, our Whale and Dolphin Evolution blog project has been released! Learn about this 55 million year long story through the text, video, interactive map, images and info-graphic. This has been a truly fascinating project for us, and we hope that you will have fun exploring.

We welcome feedback from all the Cetacean-mad folks out there. Don't forget to add your observations to our project to make our nature guides and bog projects even more accurate!

Crazy for Cetacea

Ok, so we went a little crazy with our Whale and Dolphin investigation blogs this week. Check out our Central American Spinner Dolphin observations, followed by a comprehensive blog about Humpback Whales, and lastly an explanation of responsible marine tourism in Costa Rica (links below).

We are still working on or epic Whale and Dolphin Evolution blog, but we hope to be done next week. Stay tuned, as we are very excited to release it.

Free Interactive PDF Field Guides

Using all the fabulous information on iNaturalist, we are in the process of creating free, downloadable PDF field guides for Drake Bay and Corcovado. Each guide includes photos, common names in English and Spanish, scientific names and links to the iNaturalist species pages.

To date, we have created guides for Drake Bay Village birds, marine mammals, land mammals and sport fish. We hope to soon be adding Mangrove birds, lizards and butterflies.

We would love for our friends and followers to take a look and let us know if you have any suggestions, information or local photos to add. Check it out here: http://www.gringocurt.com/osa-wildlife/
