iNaturalist Training: Become a citizen scientist!
This amazing opportunity is offered in conjunction with the San Diego Natural History Museum in preparation for this year’s City Nature Challenge. This presentation will include speakers from California State Fish and Wildlife, San Diego Natural History Museum, and Cabrillo National Monument. Each speaker will focus on how iNaturalist is used at their perspective wildlife refuge or national park/monument!

What is the date for the 2019 City Challenge?

Lead a team and join us during this two-day binational effort to record as many species as possible along a 1 kilometer stretch on each side of the U.S.-Mexico border. Teams will be comprised of a team leader and 5-15 members of the public. Nat teams will make observations in Border Field State Park on Saturday, March 2.
Schedule of events
7:30am-9am Orientation (for volunteer Team Leaders) and iNat training at Tijuana Estuary Visitor Center (home base)
9am-10am Lead groups (members of the public) making observations in the field (we will divide into different habitat groups)
10am set members of the public free, they can head back to home base to upload observations, or head home
10am-11am break for Nat volunteer-guides, return to Tijuana Estuary by 11am
11am-12pm Sign-in and iNat training at Tijuana Estuary Visitor Center
12-1pm Lead groups (members of the public) making observations in the field (we will divide into different habitat groups)
1pm set members of the public free, they can head back to home base to upload observations, or head home
Volunteers are welcome to stay and make observations in an location often off limits to the public.
