Data from project included into iMapInvasives

Good morning!

I wanted to jump on board again with journal posts for the PA iMapInvasives project on iNaturalist. I apologize for the long delay since the last one.

I am excited to see so many observations added to our project (almost 7,500). This project aims to collect information on invasive species (plants, animals, insects) found in Pennsylvania. Data collected is later included in the online iMapInvasives database where it is used by a plethora of natural resource professionals as well as community scientists who have an interest in invasive species and learning of their known distributions in the Commonwealth.

If you know of other members on iNaturalist who are collecting invasive species data in Pennsylvania, please invite them to join our project so their data can be put into iMapInvasives as well.

Thanks!

Online Training Video

Hello All,

If you're interested in learning more about PA iMapInvasives, check out the following link to learn how to enter an observation record into iMapInvasives.

Let me know what you think and if you have any any questions about the iMapInvasives database.

Also, remember that most of the data being submitted into this project on iNaturalist is getting transferred into the iMapInvasives database. Your observation data is very important once it's put into iMapInvasives because it's now in a place where natural resource professionals are able to utilize it to locate and manage invasive species in all parts of Pennsylvania. So please keep your data coming - it's helping to fight the fight against these pesky species!

Your invasive species observations are welcomed and encouraged!

Hello PA iMapInvasives project members,

Thank you all for your continued assistance in adding to the iMapInvasives project on iNaturalist. All of your observations are helping to build up the iMapInvasives database by providing useful information regarding where invasive species are found within Pennsylvania. Please keep your observations coming, especially now that the spring (and basically summer) are in full swing and everything has leafed out.

As always, if you'd like to learn more about iMapInvasives, just send me a message on iNaturalist. Also, if you're interested in requesting a free login account to iMapInvasives, click on the following link: http://www.imapinvasives.org/paimi/request_login_account/

Aquatic Plant & Animal Observations Wanted!

Thank you to everyone who has and continues to contribute data to the PA iMap project on iNaturalist. Your data helps to build the PA iMap database, which in turn helps to paint a better picture of what invasive species are currently in Pennsylvania and where they are located. At present, the PA iMap project is collecting data on all invasive species, but is especially interested in receiving data on aquatic plants and animals. If you happen to see any aquatic invasive species in your travels, please be sure to upload them to iNaturalist and include them in the PA iMap project.

Thanks so much!
Amy

Login Accounts available for PA iMapInvasives!

Hello All,
Thank you so much to everyone who is becoming a member of the Pennsylvania iMapInvasives project here on iNaturalist. Your observations are wonderful and are certainly helping to increase the amount of data in the iMapInvasives database. If interested, iMap login accounts are available to anyone who would like to enter observation data into iMap directly. Go to the following webpage (www.imapinvasives.org/paimi/map) and click on "Request a Login" to get started. With an iMap account, you'll also be able to enter other types of information (including assessments, surveys, and treatments) and see other observations entered by fellow iMap users. Training is available on how to navigate and use the iMap website, so please don't hesitate to message me on iNaturalist if you have any follow-up questions. You can also email me at astauffer@paconserve.org.
Thanks!
Amy

New Pennsylvania iMapInvasives project created on iNaturalist!

Thanks to a bunch of iNaturalist advocates at WPC, the idea for an iMapInvasives project on iNaturalist was born and created on August 7, 2013. Thank you to Chris Tracey, Dan Nydick, Pete Woods, and David Yeaney for answering questions and providing ideas which helped to make this idea become a reality! We are excited to begin using this new avenue to connect with fellow naturalists and folks interested in reporting invasive species in our state, and we look forward to incorporating your invasive species observations into the PA iMapInvasives database. Thanks and welcome to our project!
