The Sugar Robbers Project (#SugarRobbers) is a project investigating the diversity of animals foraging from hummingbird feeders.
Hummingbird feeders are a common garden device used to attract migratory hummingbirds and offer unique wildlife viewing opportunities in user's backyard. However, these devices are frequently raided or fully depleted by non-target omnivorous mammals such as bats, carnivores, or rodents. Predator species such as mantids, snakes, and spiders use the feeders as prey waiting stations. And insects take advantage of these sweet snacks.
This project aims to collect feeding observations of animals other than hummingbirds on hummingbird feeders. We will accept photos and videos of sugar robbing mammals, insects, reptiles, and birds.
We are only after observations of non-target wildlife at hummingbird feeders, so any hummingbird feeding observations are not accepted.
Thank you!
