TAZPITEVA, Golan ecological community monitoring

Recently, a master plan was approved for preserving the biodiversity of the Golans
open areas, led by the Golan Regional Council. Consequently, the need to conduct a
long term study of the Golan's fauna and flora arose. Knowledge of the regions
biodiversity provides decision makers with an excellent tool for proper management
of wildlife. A citizen science platform was chosen as a mean to achieve this goal,
alongside scientific research. The underlying IT infrastructure supporting this project
builds on the iNaturalist engine, enhanced mobile applications (IOS and Android) and
a dedicated web site. Local citizens are invited to use these tools to record and
upload observations. The data collected is thereafter used by scientists,
environmental organizations and decision makers to manage the Golan’s
ecosystems. Furthermore, TAZPITEVA aims to strengthen the relationship between
residents of the Golan and their surroundings, serving as an excellent educational
tool for the community.

TATZPITEVA is a unique project, where participation, data, and the software code are
open to all. We invite you to take part in observing and identifying the Golan's fauna
and flora, learn about the amazing Golan wildlife, and contribute to future
preservation of nature.
