Wetlands can now be added statewide! Emphasis is on Otter, Winooski, and Pike river basins

So good news, the project is being expanded so you can now add wetlands from anywhere in Vermont. The priority now is still on the Otter Creek basin, where mapping is being finalized, as well as the Winooski and Pike river watersheds where a mapping project is to be initiated soon.

If you are interested in learning more, there will be a virtual training on the evening of May 18, 2021 at 7:00 PM that is open to the public. The link is here: https://tinyurl.com/42e9xtmb

I would like to contribute to this project, but only found out about the wetlands project after the training passed. Is there a way of viewing this now? One question I have is around which observations are most useful for the purposes of this project. I am not sure if the land I am on is part of the area covered in this project. Thanks!

@ylangirl the training was recorded, i can send it to you tomorrow (it is on my work computer and actually i should link it in a project journal poist), but you may not need it if already very family with inat. Any observation in a wetland can be added, but especially valuable are those in the Winooski, Pike, and Otter Creek basins, and smaller wetlands that are more likely to be missed on mapping. Add an observation of an organism and add to the project, bonus points if you can capture a photo of the organism with a view of the wetland behind. Let me know if you have any questions, charlie.hohn at vermont.gov
