IUCN follows a 2006 paper that split H. javanicus into two species. Apparently Caribbean, Hawaiian, Mauritus and Fiji introduced populations are H. auropunctatus while Comoros and Japan introduced populations are H. javinicus. The status of Hong Kong populations are unclear
