????? This clearly goes against current United Kingdom taxonomic norms https://bsbi.org/maps?taxonid=2cd4p9h.cgq & Stace. C. New Flora of the British Isles (2019) ?@tiggrx , @qgroom do you know anything about this?

@bobwardell I don't know enough about the Rhinanthus minor subspecies to comment really. Stace (2019) although describing 6 subspecies does state "6 sspp. may be recognised in BI, but some populations do not fit into any of them and the pattern of variation on the Continent is more complex; the sspp. may be better abandoned". It seems that POWO has gone with the abandoning route.

I hear you - this was all screwed up on the iNat side though where we had lots of taxa like R. borealis etc. Because it was so tangled, I just brought the genus in line with http://www.plantsoftheworldonline.org/? which is our primary reference. If we want to deviate from POWO thats fine, but we need a clear articulation of how we're deviating from POWO (e.g. treat Rhinanthus minor as not monotypic but rather having varieties Rhinanthus minor stenophyllus and Rhinanthus minor minor). You can request deviations by flagging the taxon
