@cooperj This is an accepted Choanoflagellate genus. I think the only observation using this was https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/53350064 so it is no big problem to fix. I assume the confusion is with Sphaerotheca?

It was imported without a parent taxon and needed gafting. The Catalogue of Life link was unresolveable ...

So it was unclear where it was supposed to fit. I could find no observations under he taxon name when I looked. 'Sphaerotheca' was a guess as a typo. What should be the taxon's parent?

I just made created it again and grafted it. I don't think there is a way to reverse merges like this short of emailing iNat admins, which is silly in this case. Or is there? Also, you can find all observations that have an ID for a certain taxon even if that isn't the ID the observation is labeled as, by using the ident_taxon_id= url param, like https://www.inaturalist.org/observations?ident_taxon_id=1115015 in this case. I'm writing a feature request to add this link in the ungrafted taxa section since I think it would be useful quite often.

No easy way - no.
Apologies for not spotting the observation record.
I agree a fool-proof way of seeing those would be good.
They do not always seem to listed as observations on the taxon page. An indexing delay I expect.

Just for reference the actual Catalogue of Life URI for this taxon is ...

2019 edition anyway. I'm not sure if CoL identifiers have any persistence these days. They didn't a while back, and thus had no value as 'source identifiers'
