I am a junior at Wesleyan University in Connecticut who began my research into the local vernal pools of Foxborough, MA and their environment while at the Foxborough Regional Charter School.

My research in the past years has been centered on what are the quantitative and qualitative signs of healthy and unhealthy vernal pools. This has included assessments of the plant and animal life numbers, health, and breeding sites.

I am completing data on the flow of toxic run off water into these environments and doing research to engineer environmentally friendly diversion techniques.

Species of particular interest are Marbled Salamander (Ambystoma opacum), Blue Spotted Salamander (Ambystoma laterale), Blanding's Turtle (Emydoidea blandingii), Wood Turtle (Glyptemys insculpta), Eastern Box Turtle (Terrapene carolina), Spadefoot Toad (Scaphiopus holbrookii).

My research owes a great deal to the Foxborough Conservation Department, the Foxborough Conservation Commission, and the Foxborough Conservation Manager. I am indebted to them for this opportunity and their guidance.

The Boy Scouts of America William T. Hornaday program has also been a great inspiration, and my Eagle Project will involved restoration of devastated vernal pools in my community.

I am the creator and administrator of the "Vernal Pool Species Assessment, Inventory, and Monitoring Project" at iNaturalist.Org :
