I'm a lifelong nature lover enthralled by all living things large and small. If I had to pick some favorites, I'm partial to spiders, lichens, sequoia, pelicans, manzanita trees, silverfish, and pretty much any trees or flowers that smell good. I am currently the science department chair and biology and environmental science teacher at the Los Angeles High School of the Arts in the Koreatown neighborhood of Los Angeles. I hope to use this site to help my students look a little closer at this wonderful world around them so that they may be inspired to help others do the same.

Update: While none of the above has changed, I am currently in Seoul, South Korea as a Fulbright Distinguished Teacher researching the pedagogical strategies that Korean science teachers employ to help their students develop content mastery. I am particularly interested in differentiated instruction, socio-scientific issues, project-based learning, and use of technology in and out of the classroom. I am beyond honored to be selected by the Fulbright commission to be here and excited to explore the cultural, epicurean, and biological diversity of this fascinating country.
