Cowpen Daisy (Verbesina encelioides) A.k.a. Golden Crownbeard. Introduced/naturalized plant in the xxx family that grows in disturbed soils, along road sides, and in fields. Stems are densely short-hairy. Leaf blade is lanceolate to triangular-ovate, 3-veined from base, coarsely dentate. Ray flowers are orange-yellow. Peak bloom time: May-January.
