Description: The Killdeer is a large brown shore bird with a white chest and belly. They have two black bands on their chest. Killdeer have a distinct call saying their name “killdeer killdeer”.

Habitat: Open areas, lawns, and even in parking lots.

Fun Facts: The adults will pretend to have an injury to lure predators away from their nests.
