Hawthorn (Crataegus, pronounced /krəˈtiːɡəs/) is a large genus of shrubs and trees in the rose family, Rosaceae, native to temperate regions of the Northern Hemisphere in Europe, Asia and North America. It is the state flower of Missouri.
