Caryophyllaceae | Deptford pink
Deep pink flowers in flat-topped clusters atop stiff erect stems.

Habitat: Dry fields and roadsides.

Flowers: 0.5" wide; petals 5, with jagged edges and tiny white spots; bracts below flowers leaf-like, lanceolate or awl-shaped.

Leaves: 1-4" long, narrow, erect, light green.

Fruit: Many seeded capsule.

Occasional in Floracliff Nature Sanctuary.
