Deeply fringed, 5-petaled, white flowers clustered atop tall slender stalks and leaves mostly in whorls of 4.

Habitat: Open woods.

Flowers: 3/4" wide; sepals united, bell-shaped.

Leaves: 1 1/2-4" long, lanceolate, smooth.

Fruit: Many-seeded capsule.
