Leaves glabrous; Leaflets obovate to elliptic, rounded and sometimes notched at the apex. Calyx lobes as long as or longer than the tube, narrowly triangular.
Up to 1000 m.
This species is closely related to D. pervillei and it is sometimes difficult to identify flowering specimens lacking leaves which come from the northern and southern limits of the distributions of these species. D. chapelieri can be distinguished by its glabrous leaves, usually with larger leaflets, and by its larger fruit.
