Summary ²

Elaphocordyceps is a genus of parasitic fungi within the family Ophiocordycipitaceae. The genus was formally circumscribed by Sung and colleagues in 2007. Various species were once included in Cordyceps (i.e., "Cordyceps ophioglossoides"), and then were moved to Ophiocordyceps (i.e., "Ophiocordyceps ophioglossoides") before this genus was formally established. Some species parasitize other fungi; in particular, E. ophioglossoides attacks species of the underground fungus Elaphomyces.
