Squirrel Tree Frog

Hyla squirella

Squirrel Tree Frog 2

Squirrel Tree Frogs closely resemble the better known Green Tree Frog. Main differences include a much duller and less distinct white side stripe, a noticeable gray spot behind the eye, gray mottling below the white side stripe, and gray mottling on the legs. Like Green Tree Frogs, Squirrel Tree Frogs spend much of their time hiding high up in vegetation or on buildings, and can be found around the front door of the Arboretum visitor center. The call is a nasal quacking repeated 1-2 times per second: http://www.californiaherps.com/noncal/misc/miscfrogs/pages/h.squirella.sounds.html
