Rough Green Snake

Opheodrys aestivus

Rough Green Snake 2

Rough Green Snakes are common but rarely seen thanks to their incredible camouflage. Bright grass-green, these small and slender snakes blend in perfectly with grasses and tree leaves. They are found in meadows and forests near water and are excellent climbers, often found high up in the branches. They eat mainly insects, including cicadas, but may also eat small treefrogs.
