Blanchard's Cricket Frog

Acris blanchardi

Blanchard's Cricket Frog 2

Blanchard's Cricket Frog is a tiny species, with adults only 0.5-1.5 inches long. They prefer to rest on vegetation that is on or near water. They often have a colorful stripe down the middle of the back, which varies in color from bright green to red. You are more likely to hear their distinctive call than see them - it sounds like marbles or pebbles tapping together: http://www.californiaherps.com/noncal/misc/miscfrogs/pages/a.c.blanchardi.sounds.html
