The swamp darter (Etheostoma fusiforme) is perch-like (Percidae family) fish, one of the 324 species of fish found in Tennessee. The specific name fusiforme means long and cylindrical. Occur in standing or slow-flowing water over mud, sometimes sand; often in vegetation (Ref. 5723, 10294). Eggs are found attached to the substrate unguarded (Ref. 7043).
