Xerocomellus dryophilus

Summary 2

Xerocomellus is a genus of fungi in the family Boletaceae. The genus, newly described in 2008, contains 12 species. Molecular analysis supports the distinction of Xerocomellus species from Boletus and Xerocomus, within which these species were formerly contained. Xerocomellus in fact is only distantly related to Xerocomus and is most closely related to Tylopilus, Boletus sensu stricto, Porphyrellus, Strobilomyces, and Xanthoconium.
