The Isabella Tiger Moth is best known as its caterpillar, the Woolly Bear. They are common, and much more conspicuous than the adults. Adults are yellow and brown, and not nearly as frequent as the caterpillars. The spines on the caterpillar are not venomous, but they can shed, causing a mess. The caterpillars hibernate through winter, where they can be found under rocks and logs.
