Plumbago is a sprawling, mounding, somewhat vine-like, evergreen shrub that can reach three to six feet tall and ten feet wide. It has semi-woody, arching stems with yellowish-green, 2 in. long, oblong leaves that are alternately arranged. Features 6 in. clusters of pale blue phlox-like flowers that bloom freely throughout the growing season, but will die back during frost. The pale blue flowers are 1 in. long tubes expanding into 5 petals spreading about 1 in across. Flowers are followed by barbed fruit capsules.
