Found growing on rocks in cool quiet water in the lower intertidal from Monterey Peninsula, California, to Isle Magdalena, Baja California.

Morphology and Identification ³

Dense and bushy thalli which grows 6 to 16 cm tall. Has a reddish-purple color. Branches become progressively shorter, tips blunt with a small pit at end.
