Cladophora graminea

Habitat and range 4

Often found under rocky overhangs in shaded areas in mid and low intertidal zones from Santa Cruz to San Pedro, CA (according to MAC). This species is currently also found in Laguna Beach, CA.

Morphology and identification 5

Branched filament. Small (usually ~ 5 – 8 cm), thin thalli, mid to lower intertidal. Dark green in color.

More branched and more grass like than Cladophora columbiana which is more moss like.
