Habitat and Range 3

Found growing on rocks, shells, etc. in the low intertidal from Santa Barbara, California, to Peru. Widely distributed in warmer seas. A frequent summer annual in southern California.

Morphology and Identification 3

Typically grows in small mats with curly tips, reaching between 8 - 20 cm tall. Small, cylindrical seaweed with many small branchlets. Also often has curved tips, causing it to clump up.
