A taxonomist in Jepson Manual 2 has re-classified this plant as Monardella sinuata ssp. nigrescens
Nice - dipped on this one this weekend - glad someone was able to see it...
This is still listed as a full species in JM2 as far as I can tell.
Apparently the annual dune monardellas at Pt. Reyes are now considered to be this:
