Well I listened to both on allaboutbirds.org and I'm leaning towards the Carolina Chickadee. I didn't hear that see-saw sound that the black-capped one made at all.
I also saw the two King Fishers that I see here during the summer. They were too far away and flying around too fast to photograph but I was surprised they didn't go south for the winter.

This is a tough one! You're right at the zone of overlap between the Carolina and the Black-capped, plus they hybridize too. Did you hear the song?

Yes I did hear the sound and I think I could recognize it again if i heard it. Let me go see if I can find sounds from both online.
