The old world Kentish Plover and new world Snowy Plover were formerly treated as the same species. They were split into different species two years ago and this split is recognized by the AOU, Clements Checklist, iNat, etc. Our north American bird is now Snowy Plover (Charadrius nivosus). This change has recently been adopted by iNat and nomenclature clanged in the database. Please change your ID to Snowy Plover.
