Description

The flower is a little under an inch.

Other smaller flowers were often located under the main one.

The numerous small thorns were quite soft.

The whole thing reminds me a bit of a thistle.

Pretty sure this is Eryngium yuccifolium, definitely reminds me of a Eryngium and a google search of Texas Eryngium led me to that particular species.
