Description
Mature male yellow-legged meadowhawk dragonfly observed soaking up the sun's rays in mid-October.
Thanks for pointing me in the right direction, Kent. Although it's hard to see that the legs are yellowish-brown in the harsh lighting of the photo, and I don't have a shot of the face of the insect, I can make out yellowish-brown haze at the base of the hind wings. The fact that it was flying in mid-October is also consistent with the species.

Your points are spot on. Date is crucial. The yellow legs are super obvious sometimes, and not yellow at all others.
