Trail Canyon Waterfall, Big... (Google, OSM) Details Hide details

Description

These toads were perfectly still, apparently asleep, on a rock hanging over Trail Canyon Creek just above the waterfall. I sprinkled a little water on them to see if they were alive, and some eyes opened.

if it might be arroyo toad I'd recommend obscuring the location. These guys are VERY endangered in that area.

That being said, neat find!

The coordinates of all observations ID'd to threatened species are automatically obscured (so this one is obscured because its ID'd as the endangered Arroyo toad), but I think this is a California Chorus frog (which do look rather toady). The lack of paratoid glands separates them from 'true toads' like the Arroyo Toad

Oh, thanks for the info Loarie! It looked like it was still in the described spot and it didn't display as a round icon so I'm not sure if there is a bug or it just happened to 'defer' very close to the real location.

It doesn't strike me as looking like an arroyo toad either but it's been a while since I've seen any.

You're right Charlie, something happened here that seems to have not triggered the automatic obscuring for threatened species - probably a bug...
