Description

Our yellow lab spotted this little snake before we did, and we took a few pictures before releasing him in a safe location. He was about 8 1/2 inches long, dark beige with a black head, red underside, and an light tan ring around his neck.

Very cool! According to the ranges, this would be T. Planiceps. Was it in Temecula? Can you add a marker to the map so iNat will cross reference it with place checklists? You can obscure the location if it's sensitive. Thanks!

Thanks - and also, if you agree with me that this is Tantilla planiceps rather than Tantilla hobartsmithi click 'agree' next to my ID and it will be the first research-grade observation of this snake on iNat!
