Observations by dan

This is the female Great Horned owl that has been nesting for 8 years in the same tree at the Nisqually Wildlife Refuge. She appears to be sitting on her nest as if she has eggs, but so far no chicks have been spotted yet. If there are chicks, they are much later as typically they would have fledged long before this. Perhaps this pair has become too old to rear young. The male has been observed feeding her, meanwhile she just sits. And we wait.
