On my way to the cafeteria this morning on the Chadron State College campus, I came across this yellow lichen growing on one of the trees. The tree was on relatively flat ground and the lichen itself had a Northern aspect. It was also mostly shaded.

While taking a walk through the ravine South of Chadron between King's Chair and the water tank, I came across this moss on top of a rotting boat. The moss had complete sunlight and was on the decaying wood.

While taking a walk through the ravine South of campus between Kings Chair and the water tank, I came across this fungus. The fungus was growing on many of the tree branches in the ravine. They were all shaded from the leaves that were now growing.

While talking a walk near Briggs Pond on the Chadron State College campus, I came across this nice Orange Lichen. The lichen was found on a tree branch. The tree was on relatively flat ground and the lichen itself was fairly shaded and was facing West.

During a field trip with BIOL 223, we were walking through the Chadron State Park and came across many mosses. This particular moss was on the side of tree. It was a relatively shaded area but with a stream flowing right next to it. The moss was located on the western part of the tree.

While taking a walk out near Briggs pond, I also came across a dark yellow lichen. This lichen was also located on the side of a tree. The lichen was facing east and the tree was located on the northern side of the hill. The tree was also located near the pond and in a relatively shaded area.

On field trip with Biol 223 we were walking down in a ravine south of Chadron. The ravine is located between Kings Chair and the water tank. This orange lichen was located and some bark of a young tree. It was all over the branch so different parts got sun while others were a little more shaded.

On a field trip with Biol 223 we were in a ravine south of Chadron. The ravine was between King's Chair and the water tank. This dark brown lichen was located on many of the tree branches in this ravine and it was in an area that had some shade but also had good amount of light. This lichen, if you look close enough, has many cups on it.

On a field trip with Biol 223 we were in a ravine South of Chadron and spotted this nice white Lichen. This white lichen seemed to be elevated off the bark as it might have had two cortex's. The lichen was located on a tree branch that was South of town. The lichen itself was on the North side of the branch.

During a field trip with Biol 223 we came across many different lichens. This lichen is a dark brown lichen that was located on a slab of concrete South of Chadron. The face of the slab itself was facing South and it was located at the bottom of a ravine with little shade. The ravine is located by Kings Chair and the water tank.

This light orange Lichen was located on the same tree as the light green Lichen. It was located on the Northern side of the tree, which was also located on the Northern side of Campus near Kent hall. It was also located on flat ground and was in a fairly shaded area.

Saw a light green/blue lichen on a tree located on campus. Located West of Kent Hall. It was located on the North side of the tree near the bottom of the tree. It was located on a tree which was on flat ground and did not seem to be in a spot to get a lot of sunlight.

Located in a patch of Russian Olive trees on a North facing slope. South of football practice fields and Armstrong Gym. They were located in shaded area and facing North/ on top of the bark due to photosynthesis and to minimize moisture loss. Observation and photos taken with BIOL 238.
