Amazing metallic blue colour, I've often seen them as a blur of blue flying past or flying around some of the bushes, but never before seen one stop for long enough to photograph.
Marbled gecko on the fence -- seven years living in the house and we'd never seen one here, then on the weekend while we were packing to move I found a pair of them under some boxes in the shed.
Yes, that little bowl in the sand is the nest! I have no idea how they manage to hatch their eggs only 50cm or so above high-tide mark on a beach frequented by hundreds of people who bring endless bouncing dogs for a run.
clarification: Id'd as the red-capped plovers were running around and sitting on the nest, but I could only get a photo of the nest
The next day I went back along the beach and met another birder out taking photos of the plovers, with equipment much better suited to the purpose than my IXUS700. Had a chat and pointed the nest out to him, but stupid me forgot to exchange details or ask him if he publishes his photos anywhere. If you're out there, drop me a line!
A common duck in the pond at work. Seeing how usable the iPhone app was for me -- not very since it defaults to 1970-01-01 00:00 for the date and time and the iPhone camera doesn't really work for capturing wildlife.

Crested pigeons (Ocyphaps lophotes) are everywhere in the outback, the ones at the old telegraph station were almost tame enough to touch.
Off the side of the road between Kings Canyon and Uluru
White-throated treecreeper that knocked itself out on the window. About an hour later it crawled up the wall and sat there for another hour or so, then eventually flew off.
