Tadpole Shrimps (Order Notostraca)Observer

There is a pond at Godley Head, Canterbury New Zealand, beside the car park. The water is very low and probably going to dry up this summer. While looking at Tadpoles I noticed something fluttering on the mud slightly out of water. As I rinsed the mud and put it in the slightly deeper water I noted how strange and creepy it looked. Very much like the other photos. Was blackish with an orangey tale. Water was quite warm. Air temperature about 21 degrees C.
