Description

Long stem, with cottony blossom at the end. It is winter, so right now there is no color except brown. I am guessing that in the spring there is some sort of flower that blooms. It grows in the long grass.

Description

Bird's Nest Fungus is a small crater mushroom that truly does resemble a nest full of eggs. The "eggs" are really seeds, and when these seeds fall out the spores are distributed. They grow in tight groups. Bird's nest is dark brown, and has no cap.

Description

LBM's or little brown mushrooms. These capped mushroom are numerous, small, and cute. Mushrooms are very hard to identify sometimes, and so these account for a lot of the really small mushrooms that have attached gills, and leave a white spore print. I found these growing on a wood post.

A bright green, toxic lichen. It is leafy and grows on conifers in the NW and a few other places too. It is toxic because it has vulpinic acid which gives it its vibrant color. The lichen itself is bright greenish yellow.

Description

This is also called a red-belted polypore. It grows out of the tree like a shelf. You can count how many years old it is by the amount of rings. It has a woody texture on the top half, and the bottom is a white, porous surface. Can grow quite big! This one was about a 15" wide and 12" tall.
