In the last week of February and first week in March these very large toads come out at night to mate in Harbor View Park. They seem to like rainy nights the best and seem to be in a trance when looking for a mate. This is a photo of two mating toads. Within a week, their very long strings of eggs hatch. The females are about the size of an adult hand, and they have white and black markings on the sides of their head. They are also poisonous.

This caterpillar was found by some of my students while planting a Japanese garden. When we tried to gently brush it off the shovel, it's orange antennae, suddenly popped out of its head. It was found near a citrus tree.

This bug was found on kudzu on the bluff. It is similar to a caddisfly, but lives on land. I have seen this on my balcony, at the beach, and a hand railing. It sticks to whatever it is on but can be seen moving frequently. Maybe it is in the trichoptera or manophylax group. I have been trying to identify it exactly but haven't had any luck.
