It was a snowy mid winter's day and I noticed a very sorry looking squirrel looking at me through the glass of our back door. He must not have been able to fall asleep for the winter! So I started throwing a little bird seed outside into the snow for him. This went on for a while, until one day, he just didn't show up.

I found this on the ground, surprisingly no where near the type of tree it came from. This is a Magnolia Pod, from a Magnolia Tree. They are usually filled with bright red seeds that disperse when the pod falls from the tree.
